The purpose of this blog is to use for my personal genealogy research. It’s a good way to keep track of what I’m working on and what I’m thinking whilst conducting my research and thinking things through. It will also (possibly) provide feedback or hints from people who are conducting similar research and stumble across my information. It’s also a way to publish some research notes that may not necessarily be of use to myself, but may be useful to others.

I do not publish my pedigree publicly on the web, but I do use The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding (TNG) to store my data. This blog will also be helpful to share some modifications to that software I make. I’m currently working on some modifications that stemmed from the desire to use a WordPress layout as my TNG design…that itself is pretty straightforward if you’re familiar with WordPress, but I’m also working on modifying the individual pages to make the information display more to my liking.

Although I did create a blog category entitled “Work in Progress,” everything in this blog should be considered a work in progress.

I stumbled on your blog as a result of late night, insomniac Googling for “German church records deciphering”. Very cool! I just started a WordPress blog about six weeks ago; I’m mainly using it as a CMS (content management system) to sort through photos, obituaries, and other pieces of information that I have gathered. I’m thinking of moving the blog to my own hosted system and using Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding software to be able to generate trees, etc. from my research. Love to hear more about your experience with Next Generation …

My family is from wolfskirchen as well. Some of the names you mention come up with some of my family history as well.

Dear Valerie Moore, I am wondering if you could provide me with some information about the Ensminger families of Bas-Rhin. Could you please send me an e-mail at the following [@gmail.com] address: joosthengstmengel […]?
